Famous Tigers Of Ranthambore
1. MACHALI
Machali (T-16) is the most iconic tigress of Ranthambore, celebrated worldwide for her majestic presence. She was featured in award-winning documentaries and loved by tourists globally. This legendary tigress passed away on August 18, 2016, at the age of 20.
2. SUNDARI
Sundari (T-17), daughter of the famous Machali, was admired for her stunning beauty — her name means “beautiful.” She gave birth to three cubs in 2019 and was primarily spotted in Zones 1 to 5.
3. ROMEO
Romeo (T-6) was a well-known tiger of Ranthambore, famous for his constant pursuit of tigress Laila’s attention. Born in 2011, he was frequently spotted in Zones 4 and 5. He sadly passed away at just 9 years old.
4. LAILA
Laila (T-41) is one of Ranthambore’s most captivating tigresses, known for her interactions with T-6. She is easily identified by a distinctive diamond-shaped marking on her body. She is primarily spotted in Zones 4 and 5.
5. DOLLAR
Dollar (T-25), nicknamed Zalim meaning “cruel,” was one of Ranthambore’s most fierce and powerful tigers. He was named after the dollar-shaped mark on his stomach. This bold tiger passed away in 2020.
6. Famous Deceased Tigers
Ranthambore has been home to many legendary tigers who are no longer with us. These include T-24 (Ustad), T-39 (Mala), T-41 (Junglee), Bina One, Bina Two, and T-28 (Sitara).
